COMMUNITY AND FAN RELATIONS INTERN

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with planning Boomers Youth Baseball Camp
• Help with fulfillment aspects of community programs such as Boomers Bookworms, Coop’s Summer Scholars and Coop’s Kids Club
• Manage donation requests
• Produce significant revenue for the ball club through sales of group outings and assist in general ticket sales
• Answer and transfer all inbound calls
• Work at the front desk on a daily basis to assist with directing inbound and outbound mail, package deliveries, office visitors, and maintenance staff
• Participate in scheduling and coordinating the team’s official mascot appearances and events
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Assist with stocking, inventory and general cleanliness of the team store and merchandise cart
• Serve as team lead for community events and parades; including staffing and preparation
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Assist with general ballpark cleanliness, organization and set-up
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Must be able to work all game dates and additional off-site events and promotional appearances
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-task work environment
• Superior oral communication, writing and editing skills
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic
• Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment that fosters creativity, fun and energy

Compensation is $500 per month and $10 per case of pocket schedules delivered. 

Strong consideration will be given to candidates who are able to work from the beginning of the season (May 12) until the end of the season (September 4) but it is not a requirement.

GRAPHIC ARTIST (INTERN)

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist marketing and design team in creating compelling materials throughout the season
• Develop print, web, and video graphics
• Collaborate with the Creative Marketing Manager to ensure consistent styling vision and to reflect our brand aesthetic
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Assist with general ballpark cleanliness, organization and set-up
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Graphic design experience required
• Proven proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required
• Video editing/motion graphic experience preferred
• 3D experience preferred
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail and accuracy
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic and ability to work long, challenging hours, including nights and weekends
• Eagerness to commit time and energy putting out the best materials they can
• Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment that fosters creativity, fun and energy

MASCOT PERFORMER

The Schaumburg Boomers are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate mascot performer to serve as the face of the franchise, Coop the Boomer, for the 2015 season. As Coop, the performer will be an integral part of the in-game entertainment experience at Boomers Stadium. The individual must show creativity and initiative in coming up with daily crowd interaction, engagement, entertainment, and promotions. The Coop performer will have designated in-game duties, including but not limited to the Boomer Dance, Mascot Race, sponsorship activation and other between-inning contests. Mascot will also be expected to meet and greet with fans prior to, during, and after each game.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to strut, dance, run, skip, and shake your tail-feathers in a fuzzy fur suit.
  • Must be able to repeatedly autograph hats, balls, body parts, and other miscellaneous objects at any given moment.
  • Must possess an endless supply of hugs and high-fives.
  • Ability to understand game scripts and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Bring a creative mind to the role and help to brainstorm new ideas to keep the Boomers on-field entertainment fresh and fun.
  • Ability to move throughout the ballpark to meet all promotional and activation requirements.
  • Ability to engage and interact with fans.
  • Serve as an ambassador of Boomers Baseball and its boundless family-friendly and affordable fun.
  • Handle day-to-day maintenance of the costume, including washing.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work all 54 Boomers home games, and additional off-site appearances as assigned.
  • Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment that fosters creativity, fun and energy.
  • Between 5’8” and 6’2” tall and of average build in order to fit specifications of suit.
  • In good physical condition, and able to remain in costume for the entirety of each game.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with prior mascot experience.

MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist in writing game recaps, feature stories and promotional highlight stories for use on the Boomers website
• Create game day media statistics, lineups, rosters and other necessary information for all home games
• Assist in managing social media for the Boomers including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Flickr
• Maintain team website as directed
• Manage order and cleanliness of the press box
• Fulfill media requests
• Update the Boomer social media during games
• Assist with elements of sponsorship fulfillment; includes organizing photos, capturing screenshots and maintaining advertising files
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Assist with general ballpark cleanliness, organization and set-up
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Must be able to work all game dates and additional off-site events and promotional appearances
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-task work environment
• Superior oral communication, writing and editing skills
• Knowledge of/Experience in both Adobe InDesign and Photoshop strongly preferred
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic

STADIUM AND EVENT OPERATIONS INTERN

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain a clean, functional and aesthetically appealing facility through hands-on maintenance work and frequent collaboration with Director of Facilities
• Serve as primary point of contact for all ballpark contracted staff and maintenance vendors, including but not limited to cleaning, EMT, security team, painting, trash removal, pest control, paper goods and others as needed
• Ensure every area of stadium is in pristine condition before, during and after every stadium event
• Set up and tear down materials for games and events
• Ensure club’s compliance with any and all health, safety and fire codes
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Must be able to work all game dates and additional off-site events and promotional appearances
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks at any given time
• Superior oral communication, writing and editing skills
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic
• Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment that fosters creativity, fun and energy

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with day to day operations of the box office
• Log coupon redemption, voucher redemption and all aspects of single-game ticket purchases
• Work all game days and non-game day Saturdays in the box office
• Manage lost and found
• Manage tennis ball toss promotion, call winners and prepare prize materials
• Assist with pocket schedule distribution
• Assist with general ballpark cleanliness, organization and set-up
• Perform as club's mascot at outside appearances
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate (preferably junior or senior) or graduate student attending accredited university
• Must be able to earn college credit for internship
• Must be able to work all game dates and additional off-site events and promotional appearances
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-task work environment
• Previous box office/ticketing experience (sports or elsewhere) strongly preferred
• Superior oral communication, writing and editing skills
• Highly motivated with strong work ethic
• Passion for sports and strong desire to work in a team environment that fosters creativity, fun and energy
