The Schaumburg Boomers signed free agent left-hander Sam Robinson on July 7, 2012.

Robinson, 22, was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 32nd round of the 2011 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of the University of Miami. The 6’2” left-hander threw in 18 innings in the Rangers System with 13 strikeouts against just three walks with an ERA of 6.50.

As a member of the Hurricanes Baseball Team, where two seasons with his twin brother Zach, Robinson was a key member of a Miami squad, which made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. The southpaw holds a career 2.26 ERA for the Hurricanes with 76 strikeouts against just 33 walks, while allowing just 64 hits in 93 innings.
