Right-hander Ryan Fleischmann signed with the Boomers as a free agent on June 1, 2013.

Fleischmann, 22, is a recent graduate of Division III Christopher Newport University where he spent his final three seasons as the team’s closer. The six-foot righty excelled at the back-end of the Captains bullpen, collecting 29 saves in 114 collegiate innings and leaving as not only the CNU career saves leader, but also the USA South Athletic Conference record holder as well. Over four seasons, Fleischmann boasts a 2.37 ERA with 120 strikeouts against just 9 walks while allowing just 75 hits to go along with an 8-3 record.

The Williamsburg, Va. native is coming off a stellar senior season where he surrendered just two runs all season en route to being tabbed as a First Team All-Region Selection. In 2013, Fleischmann’s impressive stat line includes a 0.72 earned run average in 25 innings with just nine hits allowed and 38 punchouts.
