The Schaumburg Boomers signed free agent Keith Werman on July 19.
Werman, 23, hails from the University of Virginia, where he started in all four seasons, amassing 214 games and helping the Cavaliers earn a berth in the 2009 College World Series. In his collegiate career, the infielder hit .309 while drawing 88 walks, leading the nation in sacrifice bunts during his senior season.
After graduating, Werman spent two seasons in the Seattle Mariners farm system, starting in 2012 by batting .256 in 40 games and tallying seven RBI. In his professional career, Werman has spent time at third base, shortstop, and second, where his fielding percentage is an outstanding .985.
