Hopkins, 24, returns to the Boomers for his second season. He came to Schaumburg in August of 2015 following a trade from fellow Salvi Sports owned Gary SouthShore Railcats of the American Association. In 2016, Hopkins began the season in the bullpen before moving into the starting rotation where he became one of the most dominant pitchers in the league. Hopkins appeared in twenty games for the Boomers during 2016 and earned a 5-6 record and a 3.84 ERA. The California native holds the franchise record for most consecutive scoreless innings at 20.2 set during 2016. Hopkins was named Frontier League Pitcher of the Week in June 2016 and one of the three participants for the Boomers in the 2016 Frontier League All-Star Game
