Jack Mikel was named Boomers Manager of Stadium Operations in September 2011 after spending last season with the Frontier League’s Joliet Slammers.

Mikel performed a variety of duties for the Slammers, including Assistant Clubhouse Manager, Facilities Manager, and Group Sales Executive. The 2012 season will be Mikel’s second working in professional baseball.

Mikel boasts quite an illustrious baseball playing career, having been an All-Conference catcher in high school and award-winning outfielder in college.  During his career at playing at Culver-Stockton College, he was named First Team All-Conference, also winning a Conference Gold Glove Award. Mikel signed with the Normal Cornbelters of the Frontier League before being released early in 2010. 

A lifelong Cardinals fan, Mikel is a native of Bloomington, IL, and currently resides in Villa Park, IL.

Eager for a winning and fun-filled season with the Boomers, Mikel looks forward to listening to the Black Eyed Peas’ hit “Boom, Boom Pow” innumerable times this year. He also claims to have once seen the Boomer in action on his booming grounds in the wild, commenting “they truly are the most interesting chicken in the world!”
