Saturday, July 07, 2012 SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Manager Jamie Bennett chose six more Schaumburg Boomers to join him in Normal, Ill. for the 2012 Frontier League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m., raising the number of Boomers representatives to 10. SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE COMPLETE LIST OF 2012 ALL-STARSHaving managed the Boomers to first place in the West Division, Bennett earned the opportunity to manage the all-star squad as well as the ability to name the final four players and coaching staff. Boomers Bench Coach Mike Kashirsky spent the previous eight seasons with the Windy City ThunderBolts and also coaches baseball at Robert Morris University. Hitting Coach C.J. Thieleke, joined the Boomers in December 2011 after serving as the Gary SouthShore RailCats Third Base Coach. Schaumburg Pitching Coach Paul Kubon rounds out the Boomers coaching staff appearing in Normal and is joined by Trainer Scott Waehler, who previously served as athletic trainer for the Illinois State University baseball team. Bennett also added Schaumburg outfielders Sean Mahley and Chad Mozingo to the all-star squad after both excelled during the first half of their Frontier League debut seasons. Mahley, a Cambridge, Ohio native, was the Boomers second-round pick in the 2012 Frontier League Draft out of the University of the Cumberlands. The true rookie is batting .281 with two home runs and 24 RBI on the year. The lefty owns an eight-game hitting streak this season and is second on the team with six multi-RBI games. Mahley is joined in Normal by his outfield counterpart Mozingo, a lefty from Spring, Texas, who spent two years as a member of the Washington Nationals organization after being drafted in the 20th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Rice University. The 2012 Frontier League Draft third-round pick of the Boomers is batting .293 with three home runs and 24 RBI on the season. The 5-foot-11 outfielder is second on the team with 15 multi-hit games and is currently in the midst of a franchise-record 12-game hitting streak. The additions of Mahley, Mozingo, and the coaching staff give the Boomers a total of 10 all-star representatives, joining three other Boomers who were voted into the game. Frank Pfister, the West Division’s starting third baseman, is sixth in the league in batting average (.328), tied for second in hits (64) and tied for fourth in home runs (10). LHP Cameron Roth owns a 2.35 ERA in 61.1 innings pitched in his first season of independent ball and the Boomers hold a 7-2 record in games Roth has started. Closer Patrick Mincey (3-0, 1.77) rounds out the list of Boomers selected to the all-star team. The right-handed side-armer earned the closing job with a dominating opening to the season and did not allow an earned run until July 2. ROSTER MOVES: In a pair of separate moves Saturday, the Schaumburg Boomers placed RHP Tyler Watkins on the retired list and signed free agent LHP Sam Robinson.
