SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, announced today that right-handed pitcher Seth Webster has been traded to the Somerset Patriots of the Atlantic League for future considerations.
Webster, 27, originally signed with the Boomers in 2013 and was a vital part of Jamie Bennett’s back-to-back Frontier League championship teams in 2013 and 2014. The right-hander was signed by the Atlanta Braves in 2015, where he was honored as the organization’s top right handed pitcher for his performance with the Rome Braves (Class Low A) and the Carolina Mudcats (Class High A).
“It has been a pleasure having Seth Webster as a Boomer. He has been a great teammate, an outstanding competitor, and the ultimate big game pitcher,” Bennett said. “He has had an outstanding few years in the Frontier League and we wish him the best as he moves forward in his career. It has been great to watch him grow as a professional and he will be missed in BOOMerica.”
The veteran pitcher returned to Schaumburg in 2016, posting an 8-9 record and a 3.91 ERA in 20 starts. Webster set the Boomers single season franchise record for strikeouts with 108 and led the Boomers in wins (8) during the 2016 season. The team’s career leader in wins (22), starts (51), and innings pitched (326.2), Webster was the starting pitcher and winner in all three playoff series clinchers in 2014 and in every playoff clincher in team history.
The 2017 season kicks off on Friday, May 12th as the Schaumburg Boomers begin their 2017 journey with three straight days of Fireworks. The Boomers will host the Traverse City Beach Bums at 6:30 p.m. Season Tickets, Group Outings, and Boomer Bundle ticket packages are all available now!
