SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers have signed right-handed pitcher Matthew Johnston.

Johnston joins the Boomers after pitching collegiately at Judson University in Elgin, Illinois. Over three seasons, he appeared in 47 games, making 18 starts, and compiled a 4–12 record with a 4.95 ERA across 129.0 innings pitched. He struck out 125 batters while holding opponents to 102 hits.

During the 2025 season, Johnston posted a 4.41 ERA over 51.0 innings, striking out 52 batters in 15 appearances, including eight starts. He also recorded a pair of saves during his collegiate career.

A local product with experience in the CCAC, Johnston adds depth to the Boomers pitching staff heading into the upcoming season.
