RUN THE BASES

EVERYONE has the opportunity to run the bases after every Boomers home game presented by Sonic Drive-Ins

A night ago in a galaxy not so far away called Boomers Stadium, the rebel Boomers used three Jedi in the eighth inning to defeat the Rockford RiverHawks empire 3-2. Sean Mahley evened the battle with a broken bat two-run single and Ty Nelson took down the Death Star with the game winning hit.

Rookie Shane Prance threw 6.2 innings in his debut, allowing just two runs (one earned), both coming in the first. The Boomers had left eight runners on base and were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position before the eighth. The Schaumburg pitching staff minimized the top offensive team in the league to the tune of just three hits. Patrick Mincey recorded his first professional win by throwing 1.1 perfect innings, throwing his last 12 pitches for strikes to fan four in a row to end the game.

Winners of three in a row at home, the Boomers look to take the second game of the series on Star Wars Night at Boomers Stadium. The 6:30 p.m. contest will also feature postgame fireworks to Star Wars music. RHP Robby Donovan (2-1, 4.75).
