Brief Stop in Joliet Begins Tonight

The month of June allows the Schaumburg Boomers plenty of time at home. Coming off a 5-1 homestand, the Boomers begin a three-game commuter series against the Joliet Slammers on Monday night in Joliet. The series is the first in franchise history between the two teams, who faced each other three times in the exhibition season, all Joliet victories.

The Boomers have won back-to-back games after taking a 6-5 walk-off victory on Sunday over the West Division leading River City Rascals. The Boomers built a 5-1 lead only to watch as the Rascals tied the game with three eighth inning runs to force extra innings. Pinch hitter Jereme Milons delivered the game winning single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th.

Schaumburg has dropped six consecutive road games after a season opening sweep at Lake Erie. The Boomers, who are just a game out of first place, own a 10-2 mark at home compared to a 3-6 record on the road. Schaumburg is in a string of 21 straight games, all against the West Division. The stretch involves 15 home games and six at Joliet.

LHP Cameron Roth (3-0, 1.59) will start the opener of the series this evening at 7:05 p.m. at Silver Cross Field. Joliet, the defending Frontier League champions, counters with RHP Steven Maxwell (2-1, 2.96).
