Complete Game Drops Boomers

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers lost back-to-back games at home for the first time this season, falling to the Windy City ThunderBolts 5-1 on Monday night.

Windy City (16-11) pulled within a game of the Boomers (18-11) in the West Division standings, riding the arm of starter Dustin Williams, who twirled a complete game. Williams allowed just three baserunners all night, walking one and striking out nine to improve to 4-2 on the year.

Brandon Decker opened the scoring in the second with a solo homer for Windy City. The ThunderBolts extended the lead to 4-0 with three unearned runs in the fourth. Sean Mahley plated the lone Schaumburg run in the bottom of the fourth, delivering a solo homer over the wall in right for his second of the year. Robbie Penny took the loss for the Boomers, pitching 4.2 innings.

The series will conclude on Tuesday at Boomers Stadium in a 6:30 p.m. Hometown Tuesday contest. The Boomers will honor Schaumburg. RHP Shane Prance (0-0, 1.35) will make his second start against RHP Blayne Weller (0-0, 3.92), a converted reliever for Windy City, who is 5-0 against the Boomers this season.
