The Boomers have dropped back-to-back series for the first time this season after failing to hold a 4-0 lead last night at Joliet in the rubber game of the series. The loss was the first for the Boomers in a rubber game this year. Joliet touched Tyler Watkins for five runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and claim the 5-4 victory. Schaumburg left the tying run at third in the ninth. Gerard Hall posted three hits as the Boomers amassed 10 in the defeat.

The Boomers, currently tied with River City for the West Division lead, begin a favorable stretch to close the first half tonight. Schaumburg will have four series against teams with losing records in the final five series of the first half. The Rockford RiverHawks, 3-7 in the last 10, come calling for a 6:00 p.m. start. The Boomers swept Rockford at home to open the last homestand. RHP Robbie Penny (2-3, 4.46) takes the mound for Schaumburh tonight against LHP Ziggie VanderWall (3-1, 3.74). VanderWall is the first lefty the Boomers will face since June 10. The Boomers own a 3-2 record against lefties this season.

The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a Boomers hat this evening. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. so arrive early!
