Final Visit to Joliet Begins Tonight

The Boomers recorded a much need win over the Windy City ThunderBolts on Tuesday, finally solving the puzzle after dropping five straight to the West Division rival. Falling behind 4-0 in the first inning, the Boomers plated seven unanswered runs to grab the win. Frank Pfister tied the game with his eighth homer of the season in the third. Schaumburg has homered in five consecutive games. Steve McQuail put Schaumburg ahead for the first time in the series with a single in the seventh.

Joe Parsons pitched 2.2 innings out of the bullpen to earn the win. Patrick Mincey twirled the ninth for his fifth save. The bullpen tossed five shutout innings last night. Karexon Sanchez reached base four times and scored three runs. Sean Mahley extended his personal best hitting streak to seven games.

The stretch of 21 consecutive contests continues tonight as the Boomers begin their final visit to Joliet, the 2011 Frontier League Champions. Schaumburg won two of three at Silver Cross Field last week. The Slammers have lost three consecutive games and have dipped to fifth in the West, five games off the pace set by the Boomers.

Robby Donovan (3-1, 3.96) will face Joliet for the first time this season. Donovan has made four consecutive starts at home and hasn’t appeared on the road since May 24 at Windy City. Joliet counters with a converted reliever in RHP Jim Schult. First pitch comes at 7:05 p.m.
