SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Schaumburg Baseball Stadium will not just be the home of the Schaumburg Boomers in 2012 as Dominican University’s Baseball Team will play 14 games in Schaumburg in the spring of 2012.

The first professional game on the brand new playing surface installed by the Schaumburg Park District and Roger Bossard aka “The Sodfather” of the Chicago White Sox will take place on Friday, May 25, 2012, but the first baseball game on the new field will feature a doubleheader between the Stars of Dominican University and Millikin University on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. All 14 of Dominican’s games at the home of the Boomers will be open to the public and free of charge.

The Dominican University Stars, an NCAA Division III institution, is under the direction of first year head baseball coach Steve Hardman for the 2012 season. The Stars compete in the highly competitive Northern Athletics Conference featuring schools from northern Illinois and Wisconsin and have called Schaumburg home since the 2008 season when Dominican began playing all of its home games at the Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.

“We are very excited to have Dominican playing in Schaumburg again in 2012,” said Boomers President/General Manager Andy Viano. “This stadium exists not just for pro ball but for the greater community. Dominican has been a outstanding supporter of the Village, and we at the Boomers are proud to continue this tradition as well as give the players a chance to play at a first-class professional facility.”
