Road Series in Normal Opens Tonight

Following the first off day in 21 days, the Schaumburg Boomers remain in first place headed into a series at The Corn Crib in Normal. Normal will host the 2012 Frontier League All-Star Game in just two weeks. The CornBelters are currently 13-21, nine games in back of the Boomers. Schaumburg finished the stretch of 21 games with a 15-6 record. The stretch helped vault the Boomers to the top of the Division. Following the series with Normal, the Boomers will play three consecutive series out of the division.

Schaumburg rallied from a deficit for the 13th time this season to win a game, notching a 5-4 win over Rockford on Monday. The Boomers are 17-4 at home and 6-0 against Rockford this season. Rockford led 3-0 after scoring twice in the first inning on a two-run homer from Jet Butler. The RiverHawks added another run in the fourth against Schaumburg starter Matt Kuna. Kuna would throw six innings in his first professional start to earn the win. The rookie had twice appeared out of the bullpen.

Chad Mozingo tied the game in the sixth inning and after a 30-minute delay following an injury to an umpire Nick Kuroczko roped a single to hand Schaumburg the lead for the first time. Rockford outhit the Boomers in every game of the series and held leads in two of the three contests.

LHP Cameron Roth (4-1, 2.22) starts the first ever meeting between the Boomers and CornBelters at 6:30 p.m. this evening. Roth is coming off the first complete game in franchise history.
