Game Two at Normal Tonight

A sluggish start prevented the Schaumburg Boomers from matching their longest win streak of the season, falling to the Normal CornBelters 5-3 on Wednesday in the first ever meeting between the two teams. Chico Gomez hit a two-run homer in the second to break a 1-1 tie and Normal never trailed the rest of the way. Schaumburg trapped nine on base in the defeat including leaving the tying runs on in the ninth.

Sean Mahley posted three hits in the contest and Chad Mozingo stroked a triple in the second that allowed the Boomers to momentarily tie the game. Schaumburg owns a league best 12 triples this season. Cameron Roth battled through six innings but dropped his second consecutive decision.

Game two of the series is a hot one tonight with temperatures surpassing 100 degrees. RHP Robby Donovan, winner of three consecutive decisions, starts for the Boomers opposite Tyler Lavigne, who has been with Normal since the beginning. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m.
