Sox, Cubs Autographs Plus Free Fireworks on July 3

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — With the Famous San Diego Chicken in town for Monday’s First Place Faceoff between the Schaumburg Boomers and Traverse City Beach Bums, the Boomers free Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd will feature autograph opportunities from former White Sox outfielders Carlos May and John Cangelosi as well as the opportunity to take batting practice off former Sox and Chicago Cubs pitcher, Steve Trout.

As if free admission, free parking and free fireworks weren’t enticing enough and with neighboring townships forced to cancel their fireworks displays because of the dry weather, the Boomers decided to add a little extra to an already jam-packed, FREE event on July 3 at Boomers Stadium.

Boomers First Base Coach and two-time White Sox All-Star Carlos May and fellow former Sox outfielder John Cangelosi will join Steve Trout at the event. Don’t miss your chance to try and take one deep off a Major Leaguer with two rounds of pitches from Trout for just $50! Limited space remains for batting practice and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis so call the Boomers at 847.461.3695 now!

$5 BOOMERS TICKETS! - Join us at the ballpark this evening and while you're here, visit the box office for a special ticket offer for this weekend's trio of Boomers baseball games. Get your hands on Boomers Tickets for just $5 for games on July 6th, 7th or 8th. This offer is here for just one night so if you've been waiting to give the Boomers a try, this is the perfect excuse!

Looking for an extra-special way to celebrate Independence Day? The Boomers and Levy Restaurants invite you to join us on this night for an all-you-can eat picnic served for 90 minutes in the Boomers picnic area. A $15 ticket to the picnic must be purchased in advance by 5 p.m. on Monday July 2nd by calling the Boomers Box Office at 847.461.3695 and the menu includes: all-beef hot dogs, charbroiled hamburgers, mustard potato salad, coleslaw, fresh watermelon, assorted cookies, popcorn, soda and water! UPDATE: The Boomers and Levy are no longer able to accept picnic reservations at this time.

The Boomers Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m. with entertainers on the concourse, the Levy Restaurants concessions stands open for business and the inflatables in Coop’s Kids Corner ready to wear out your little ones. May, Cengelosi and Trout will be available on the concourse for photo opportunities and to sign autographs!

The Boomers will invite people onto the field for an 8 p.m. showing of the timeless baseball movie The Sandlot. Bring your blankets (no chairs) onto the outfield grass and watch this classic film with your family on our brand-new Daktronics HD videoboard.

Around 9:30 p.m. when the movie concludes, the rest of the fun begins with the main attraction, the Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular from the best in the business, Melrose Pyrotechnics. It wouldn’t be a Boomers event without everyone running the bases and the tennis ball toss to close out the night so stick around after the fireworks and practice your home run trot!
