SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Can't wait until Wednesday for more Schaumburg Boomers action? Owners Pat and Lindy Salvi joined over 100 Boomers fans in Crestwood to cheer on the Boomers to a 5-3 win Sunday evening in the first of a three-game series against the Windy City Thunderbolts.

“It was great to see so many fans make the drive to the South Side in support of the Boomers,” Boomers Owner/CEO Pat Salvi said. “I was elated to see how well our fans travel for such an important series and even more thrilled with the outcome!”

The Boomers belted three homers to put the brakes on a five-game losing streak and take down the West Division leading Windy City ThunderBolts 5-3 in the opener of a series on Sunday night. Rookie Cody Griebling tossed 6.2 strong innings to earn his first professional win and Patrick Mincey collected his tenth save of the season after a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Schaumburg (34-24) continues the series tonight night at 7:05 p.m. in Crestwood  and hope to regain first place in the Frontier League’s West Division RHP Robby Donovan (6-2, 3.71) is slated to return for the Boomers opposite RHP Stephen Sauer (5-4, 3.91) for Windy City (34-23).
