THIS AFTERNOON: Schaumburg hopes to salvage the final game of this three-game set as Alex Rivers (2-2, 5.14) takes the mound for Manager Jamie Bennett and Joliet counters with RHP Tommy Mendoza (3-5, 4.58) for the scheduled 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday afternoon. The Boomers hope to snap an unprecedented 29.1 inning scoreless streak following three consecutive shutouts.

LAST NIGHT: It was another tough day at the office for the Boomers (41-30) as the visiting Slammers (29-42) shut out the hosts for the second straight game. Cameron Roth took the loss for the Boomers despite allowing just one earned run over his seven innings Saturday. Roth fell to 8-5 as the Schaumburg southpaw struck out seven and allowed just five hits with four walks. The former Baltimore Orioles farmhand has allowed just one earned run in his last 24.1 innings.
