Boomers Punctuate Inaugural Season with Victory

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Schaumburg Boomers capped the first season in franchise history by rallying from a 4-0 deficit to post a 6-4 victory over the Washington Wild Things on the road Sunday, the 54th win of the season.

Shain Stoner connected on a three-run homer in the first to help Washington to a 4-0 lead against starter Robby Donovan. Donovan, who opened the season with a victory on May 18, threw five innings to win the final game of the year, his 11th of the season.

The rally began in the second with three runs. Nate Baumann posted the third of three straight hits, a double to right. Ty Nelson drove home a run with a groundout and Drew Heithoff singled home a run with two outs. Karexon Sanchez completed the comeback in the third with a two-run homer. Patrick Mincey, the fifth pitcher of the game, saved his 17th of the year with a perfect ninth, capping the season with a strikeout.

The Boomers (54-32) will be back with a vengeance in 2013.
