Boomers Open Tryout - Friday, April 27

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers will hold their first-annual Open Player Tryout on Friday, April 27 at Schaumburg Boomers Stadium. The tryout is free and registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. for position players and at 11:30 a.m. for all pitchers.

The Boomers Open Tryout is one of the last few free, public tryouts for professional baseball in the country. Players interested in attending the Open Tryout must be at least 18 years of age and at most 27 as of December 31, 2011. Players must arrive in baseball attire and supply their own wooden bats, gloves and cleats, and catchers must provide their own gear. The Boomers will supply only batting helmets and baseballs.

Upon arriving, players should enter through the First Base Gate for registration. Position player tryouts will be held first at 10 a.m. with pitchers to follow at noon. Registration begins 30 minutes prior to the schedule start time for each group. The Boomers will invite select players back for a second tryout as necessary.

Participants are vying to earn on a spot on the Boomers up-to 34-man Spring Training Roster, which will be trimmed to a maximum of 24 players when the Boomers travel to Avon, Ohio to take on the Lake Erie Crushers on Friday, May 18th to start the season.

The first Opening Day in Schaumburg Boomers history is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25 when the Boomers will take on the Florence Freedom. Season Tickets and Group Outings are available now by calling 847.461.3695 and for more information, visit www.boomersbaseball.com.
