ALS Charity Game Highlights Exhibition Schedule

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers will take on the ALS Chicago North Men’s Senior Baseball League Strikers in a game to support the Les Turner ALS Foundation on Friday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Boomers Stadium in the first of a ten-game exhibition schedule for the Boomers.

With 100% of the ticket sales going to benefit the Les Turner ALS Foundation, tickets for the Diamond Dare Game on May 4 are on sale now for $10 at the Boomers Box Office, by phone at 847.461.3695 and online by clicking HERE. All other Boomers Exhibition games at Boomers Stadium, with the exception of a special $5 Kids Day on Friday, May 11, are open to the public and free of charge.

Since 1977, the Les Turner ALS Foundation has been a leader in research, patient care, and education about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig's disease, and other motor neuron diseases (MND). The Foundation serves more than 90% of the ALS population in the Chicago area. The Foundation is also one of the nation's largest independent ALS organizations and has raised over $45 million to fight Lou Gehrig's disease.

Les Turner, a Chicago area businessman, beloved husband and father, was diagnosed with ALS in 1976. Frustrated by the lack of information and research on ALS at the time, he and his family and friends started the Foundation in 1977, just a year before Les' tragic death at age 38. The founders wanted ALS patients and families of the future to have the resources, support, and hope for a cure unavailable to Les. To learn more, visit www.lesturnerals.org.

Other highlights on the Boomers Exhibition Schedule include the “Salvi Showdown” where the Boomers owners Pat and Lindy Salvi’s other minor league baseball team, the Gary SouthShore RailCats, will challenge the Boomers in a home and home series on May 8 and 9. The Boomers welcome the defending Frontier League Champion Joliet Slammers to Schaumburg Boomers Stadium on May 10 and 11 and travel to Joliet for a third exhibition game between the two clubs at Silver Cross Field on May 14.
