SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers celebrate the return of professional baseball to Schaumburg, Ill. on Friday, May 25th with the Boomers taking on the Florence Freedom at 6:30 p.m. as the Chicagoland area’s newest professional franchise announced its complete 96-game schedule earlier today.

The Boomers kick off their inaugural season in Avon, Ohio against the Lake Erie Crushers on Friday, May 18. Schaumburg is set to compete in the West Division of the Frontier League, an independent professional baseball league featuring 14 teams throughout the Midwest ranging from St. Louis to Pennsylvania up to Ontario, Canada.

The first professional baseball game in Schaumburg since 2010 will feature the first of nine explosive fireworks displays following the 6:30 p.m. contest between the Boomers and the Freedom on Friday, May 25. All Friday home games in 2012 will feature fireworks after the game with additional fireworks displays on Sunday, May 27 as part of Opening Weekend and on Fan Appreciation Day on Thursday, August 30. Schaumburg will host the Freedom for a three-game series and the yet-to-be-named London, Ontario franchise for another three games during the Boomers first-ever homestand.
