Schaumburg Boomers Inaugural Season Underway!

AVON, Ohio — Months of waiting will finally come to an end this evening when the Schaumburg Boomers take to the field for the first time in Ohio against the Lake Erie Crushers at 6:05 p.m. Catch all the action at www.boomersbaseball.com and over the airwaves on WRMN 1410 AM Elgin.

The official website of the Schaumburg Boomers, www.boomersbaseball.com, is your source for all the latest on the Boomers whether at home or on the road, with links to the web stream of Boomers Broadcaster Tim Calderwood’s broadcast on WRMN 1410 AM Elgin, live stats powered by Pointstreak and live video, when available. Check out the top right of the Boomers home page for all pertinent links and game information!

The Boomers, one of two expansion franchises in the Frontier League, will place RHP Robby Donovan on the mound this evening opposite the 2009 Frontier League Pitcher of the Year, LHP Paul Fagan, for Lake Erie, a 2011 playoff team. First-year manager Jamie Bennett will manage his first-ever regular season game this evening as the Boomers look to get off to a strong start to the season. A full list of firsts will take place tonight for the Boomers at All Pro Freight Stadium with plenty more firsts coming throughout the season on the road and at Boomers Stadium.

Being an expansion franchise in the Frontier League is not necessarily a bad thing. Last season, the Joliet Slammers, who also began with an entirely new organization, won the championship in its first year. Tonight’s opponent, the Lake Erie Crushers, claimed the title in 2009, its first season. Lake Erie has yet to post a losing season in its three years in the league with a pair of playoff appearances.

Season Tickets, Group Outings and single-game tickets for the Inaugural Season of Schaumburg Boomers Baseball are on sale now by calling the 847.461.3695, by visiting www.boomersbaseball.com or by stopping by Schaumburg Boomers Stadium located at 1999 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg.
