Boomers Honor School District 54 Teachers, Staff

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, the Schaumburg Boomers have offered free Opening Weekend tickets to all School District 54 teachers, staff, and their families. In appreciation of their contributions to the students and families of the Schaumburg community, the Boomers wish to recognize these hard-working individuals with complimentary tickets to any game of the 2013 Opening Weekend series—Thursday, May 16 through Sunday, May 19.

“On behalf of the entire Schaumburg Boomers family, I extend my most sincere thanks to each and every one of you for the all of the work you do with our community’s children,” Boomers President/General Manager Andy Viano said. “I hope this small token of our appreciation lets you be the one on the receiving end of our hard work, and goes just a small piece of the way towards expressing our deepest gratitude to you.”

The Boomers are proud to be a part of the Schaumburg community, and embrace the opportunity to recognize the hard-working individuals within the education system, and hope to see many District teachers and staff out at the ballpark for our jam-packed Opening Weekend.

The Schaumburg Boomers proudly sponsor several school initiatives, including the newly launched Boomer Bookworms program in 2013. Boomer Bookworms is a reading incentive program in which students can earn a free ticket to a May/June Boomers game by reaching their designated reading goals. In its first year, over 60 schools and 25,000 students participated in the program, with almost half the District 54 schools enrolled. The Boomers also sponsor a special Kids Day each season, with discounted ticket packages available for school field trips. In addition, the Boomers have made numerous appearances at multiple District 54 schools over the past year with team mascot Coop the Boomer.

The sophomore season of Boomers Baseball begins on Thursday, May 16 with a 6:30 p.m. tilt against the Windy City ThunderBolts, and the first 2,500 fans will receive a Boomers Rally Towel courtesy of our Founding Partners. Friday marks the first Fireworks Show of 2013, as well as Field of Screams Night at the yard. Saturday is Pajama Party in the Park, and Sunday means the first Family Sunday of the season. And don’t forget that each and every Boomers game features FREE parking and the ability for all fans to run the bases after EVERY game.
