The Schaumburg Boomers continue the current six-game road trip as they open up a three game series with the Gateway Grizzlies Friday night with a scheduled 7:05 first pitch.

The Boomers (5-2) give RHP Cody Griebling the ball today after a quality outing last Saturday against Washington. The right-hander went six innings, allowed three runs (two earned) and struck out five in a no decision. Right-hander, JaVaun West will take the hill for Gateway (4-2) for his second start of the season.

Schaumburg dropped the rubber match in Florence last night 10-4 as a six-run fifth inning proved to be fatal for the Boomers. LHP Danny Jimenez (0-1) took the loss for the Boomers after allowing eight runs – four of which were earned – on nine hits in five innings. Boomer catcher, Michael Valadez turned in a three-hit, two-RBI night in four at-bats including a double to augment his average to a stellar .368 on the season.
