Boomers Slug Past River City

O’FALLON, Mo. — The Schaumburg Boomers set a new franchise record with eight extra-base hits in recording a 10-8 win over the River City Rascals on the road Tuesday night.

The Boomers wasted no time taking the lead, striking for four runs in the first, two of which came on a two-run homer from Steve McQuail. McQuail’s blast was his third of the year and the first of three in the game. Gerard Hall and Frank Pfister also posted homers in the contest. Hall came up with three hits and three RBIs while Pfister and McQuail drove home three runs as well. River City kept putting pressure on the Boomers but could never overcome the early deficit.

Cody Griebling worked 5.2 innings to pick up the win while Dexter Price worked a perfect ninth for his first save. The Boomers picked up 11 hits in the contest. Schaumburg is 3-0 when scoring 10 or more runs this season.

The series continues on Tuesday night as the Boomers (10-7) send RHP Joe Parsons (1-1, 8.62) to the hill opposite RHP Tommy Mendoza (1-2, 5.17).
