Boomers Settle for Series Win over Slammers

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Gerard Hall had a pair of hits and Frank Pfister knocked in three runs but the Schaumburg Boomers fell to the Joliet Slammers by a final score of 13-5 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Boomers Stadium.

Hall was the first Boomer to cross the plate in the finale, scoring early on a triple to deep right-center field. Schaumburg's shortstop came home on Pfister's first RBI, a sac fly to take the 1-0 lead.

It was all Joliet from there as the Slammers shot back in innings three, four, and five with eight runs on nine hits. Joliet took advantage of six walks on the day to go along with three hit batters.

Schaumburg tried its hand at a comeback in the sixth when McQuail singled and scored on a Brian McConkey triple and Sean Mahley followed with a double to plate McConkey, but that would be all the Boomers would tally until Pfister drove in two in the ninth.

Hall's pair of extra-base hits raised his total to 13 on the year, good enough for second-best in the league. Pfister's ninth double of the season ties Hall for the Frontier League's best mark. McQuail and McConkey each tallied two hits, and Mahley added his 13th RBI.

The Boomers are on the road this week as they take on the Windy City ThunderBolts for a three-game set followed by a road trip versus the River City RailCats.
