The Boomers (13-9) are fresh off a series win against the Joliet Slammers and will send Mike Giovenco (Chicago, Ill.) to the mound in game one tonight against the Thunderbolts (7-15) in a West Division meeting. The right-hander makes his league-leading sixth start of the season and hopes to mirror his last outing against River City on June 6. Giovenco allowed just one earned run on three hits and struck out 10 in six innings of work to become just the second pitcher in Boomers history to record 10 strikeouts in a single game.
