Boomers Drop Finale of Club's Best-Attended Series

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Finishing off the best-attended homestand in team history, the Schaumburg Boomers dropped the rubber game of a series Sunday afternoon to the Lake Erie Crushers by a 4-3 count as the Boomers averaged 3,476 fans per game this past week.

The Boomers struggled to disrupt the rhythm of Lake Erie starter Dave Middendorf accumulating just three runs on six hits in the loss. Tony Delmonico roped a two-run double down the left field line in the fourth inning to tie the game at two apiece. Gerard Hall tallied a pair of hits for his 10th multi-hit game of the year and collected nine hits over the weekend in the Lake Erie series.

Boomers starter, Danny Jimenez, took his fourth loss of the season despite a strong showing on the mound. The left-hander went six plus innings for the fourth consecutive time and also notched seven strikeouts for the fourth time this season.

Matt Kuna, Josh Renfro and Preston Hatcher combined for two scoreless innings of relief to give the Boomers a chance to push across the tying run, but unfortunately Schaumburg was unable to do so as the club settled for a 3-3 record-setting homestand.

Schaumburg will head on the road Tuesday to begin a six-game road trip in Traverse City, Mich. against the Beach Bums. RHP Cody Griebling (4-2, 5.58) will take the hill for the Boomers against RHP Scott Dunn (6-0, 2.17) at 6:05 p.m. central time.

Catch all the action on the road with Benjamin Kelly riding solo for the series against the Beach Bums on the home of the Boomers, WRMN 1410 AM Elgin.
