Boomers Kick Off Homestand, Drop Game One

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - Boomers Baseball is back for a six-game homestand in #Boomerica as Schaumburg starts its Independence Day celebration. The exciting week of action kicked off Tuesday night as the Southern Illinois Miners took game one of the series 7-2.

Offense won out early in this contest as the Miners struck gold in the third and fourth innings, scoring four runs on seven hits in those two frames alone.

Schaumburg struck back in the bottom of the fourth when Steve McQuail drove home Chad Mozingo to close the gap to 4-1. McQuail earned his team-best 26th RBI of the season by driving in Chad Mozingo, who reached base via the Boomers league-leading 90th double of 2013.

The Miners took control from there, denting the scoreboard three times in the fifth inning before Schaumburg plated one more in the eighth to round out the runs.
