McQuail's Blast Vaults Boomers to 3-2 Victory

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – A 2-2 breaking ball that did not break was ejected off the bat of Steve McQuail over the left field wall to give the Schaumburg Boomers (25-19) the 3-2 win over the River City Rascals Friday night in front of third straight crowd of over 3,000.

Schaumburg starter LHP Danny Jimenez left the contest after just throwing 16 pitches with an elbow injury. The southpaw was picked up by members of the Boomers bullpen as RHP Chris Armstrong tossed four innings of two-run (one earned) baseball to keep the Boomers within striking distance. RHP Tony Delmonico pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball to set up the victory for LHP Devon Peason, his first of the season. RHP Dexter Price converted his fifth save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

The Boomers and the Rascals will square off again Saturday night with a 6:00 p.m. first pitch  as RHP Cody Griebling (4-4, 5.72) faces off against RHP Casey Barnes (2-2, 3.50).
