Boomers Slip at World's Largest Squirt Gun Fight

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers capped off a wacky, wet, and wild weekend with The World's Largest Squirt Gun Fight at Boomers Stadium as Schaumburg slipped up against the Traverse City Beach Bums, falling by a 5-3 score.

Seth Webster took the mound for the Boomers to start the day, going six quality innings and giving up four runs in just his second professional appearance. But a pair of two-run deficits proved too much for Schaumburg's bats.

Brian McConkey hit a solo blast to right field in the second inning and both Frank Pfister and 2013 Frontier League All-Star Gerard Hall had a pair of hits in the game. Chad Mozingo also matched a season-best eight-game hitting streak with a single in the third.

The Boomers are off for the Frontier League All-Star Game until a road trip this weekend against the Washington Wild Things, but Boomers Stadium will be packed once again with a July 23 doubleheader against the Florence Freedom. We've got plenty of exciting events happening in the ballpark during the second half of the season like Harry Potter Night, Scout Sleepover, and Boy Meets World Night, so get your tickets now!
