Boomers Win Second Straight on Family Sunday

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Frank Pfister had three hits as the Schaumburg Boomers outlasted the Windy City ThunderBolts 2-1 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. A day after Schaumburg's 16th comeback victory of the season, early offense and shutdown pitching kept the Boomers on top.

Cody Griebling led the way for Schaumburg on the mound by scattering six hits and giving up just one run in six innings. Devon Pearson, Clark Labitan, and Dexter Price each tossed scoreless frames to close out the game.

Alexi Colon’s sacrifice fly in the second inning scored Brian McConkey, giving the Boomers a 1-0 lead. Two frames later, Pfister singled to center, plating Steve McQuail for his team-best 40th run of the season. That’s all the offense Schaumburg would need, as Windy City’s lone run came on back-to-back base knocks in the sixth.

Pfister’s trio of hits and RBI paced the Boomers, with the hard-working third baseman adding his fifth stolen base of the year. McQuail and McConkey each had a hit and a run scored to round out the offense for Schaumburg.
