RECAP: Webster Pitchers Boomers Past Rockford

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Seth Webster twirled the third nine-inning complete game in franchise history in a 3-1 win for the Schaumburg Boomers over the Rockford Aviators on Sunday afternoon.

Webster allowed just four hits in the contest and an unearned run, which crossed in the seventh. The rookie right-hander from Louisiana, who was named the Star 105.5 Star of the Game after his impressive performance, trusted his defense all day, striking out a pair while not issuing a walk and racking up 11 groundball outs. The complete game was the second of the season for the Boomers and the first nine-inning complete game since Cody Griebling downed Joliet on July 27, 2012.

The Boomers provided the run support in the second and third innings. Frank Pfister doubled home Steve McQuail in the second while McQuail and Brian McConkey notched back-to-back two out RBI singles in the third to open a 3-0 lead. Gerard Hall, McQuail, and Keith Werman picked up two hits each as the Boomers finished with nine. Schaumburg has collected nine or more hits in five straight contests.
