Schaumburg Soars Past Aviators 11-3

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers scored in five consecutive innings to soar past the Rockford Aviators 11-3 on Monday night and win the series.

The Boomers opened the run by scoring two in the bottom of the second. Jordan Dean collected a two-out two run single to bring home Michael Valadez andKeith WermanSteve McQuail roped his 15th homer of the season over the wall in left in the third to extend the lead. Rockford put two on the board in the top of the fourth to claw within 3-2, but the Boomers immediately responded with three in the bottom of the inning on a bases clearing double from Gerard Hall. Schaumburg added a run in the fifth and four in the sixth to account for the total. 

Matt Kuna (6-3) earned the win, working five innings. Kuna allowed two runs on three hits with a walk and two strikeouts. The Boomers lashed 15 hits in the contest with McQuail posting a 5-for-5 night to match the team record for hits in a game. Chad Mozingo posted five hits on August 19, 2012. Dean added three hits. Devon PearsonJames Bierlein, and Tony Delmonico finished out the game on the hill.

The Boomers (40-29) have won eight of the last nine games and will hit the road for a six-game trip following a Tuesday off-day. The Boomers return home on August 13.
