Boomers Rained Out in Normal; DH Thursday

NORMAL, Ill. — Severe weather forced the cancellation of the opener of a six-game roadtrip for the Schaumburg Boomers as the scheduled contest with the Normal CornBelters was postponed. The game will be played as part of a doubleheader on Thursday beginning at 6:00 p.m. Both games are scheduled for seven innings.

Thursday’s double is the first of two scheduled on the roadtrip as the Boomers will also meet Evansville in a doubleheader on Saturday. Schaumburg has played five doubleheaders this season and owns a 5-5 record with three splits and one sweep for and against. Two of the doubleheaders were scheduled with three coming as a result of rainouts. Thursday will mark the sixth doubleheader in team history.

The Boomers (40-29) have won eight of the last nine games. The pitching matchups for the doubleheader will feature RHP Mike Giovenco (7-4, 3.56) and RHP Chris Phelan (4-1, 2.02) on the hill for the Boomers against RHP Drew Provence (4-4, 3.09) and RHP Jose Trinidad (4-4, 4.38) for Normal, respectively.

The Boomers return home on August 13 for Bark in the Park presented by Lagunitas Brewing Company. Plus, EVERY child 12 and under receives a voucher for a free meal on Kids Eat Free Tuesday! Tickets for the fun and excitement of Schaumburg Boomers Baseball are available now by calling 847.461.3695, clicking HERE or stopping by the Boomers Stadium Box Office located at 1999 S.
