RECAP: Boomers Take Down Evansville 7-2

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Schaumburg Boomers (45-30) finished the best road trip in team history by taking down the Evansville Otters 7-2 on Sunday to win the series. Schaumburg played six games in four days going 5-1 over that stretch and return home tied for first atop the Frontier League standings.

Schaumburg opened the scoring with an unearned run in the top of the third making it the 12th consecutive game in which the Boomers scored first. Evansville answered with two in the bottom of the frame to open a 2-1 edge, but the Boomers retook the lead for good with two in the fifth after loading the bases with no outs. Schaumburg added insurance with a run in the seventh and three in the ninth.

Just one run scored on a hit, as Sean Mahley singled one home in the ninth. Gerard Hall and Jordan Dean posted two hits apiece with Dean and Keith Werman each scoring twice.

Seth Webster struck out a career-high eight batters to win his second consecutive outing. Webster worked 6.2 innings and scattered five hits. The rookie has thrown at least six innings in every start as a professional. Adam Tollefson pitched a score inning in relief and Dexter Price recorded the final four outs to earn his 10th save.

The Boomers return home on Tuesday, August 13 to open a six-game homestand against the Rockford Aviators for a 6:30 p.m. contest at Boomers Stadium.
