Chicago's ONLY Choice for Winning Pro Baseball

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — There's only one professional baseball team in Chicagoland thinking playoffs in 2013 and with a 49-32 record, the first-place Schaumburg Boomers have six of their final 15 games at home with their sights set on a Frontier League Championship.

After falling just one win short of the playoffs during the Inaugural 2012 Season of Boomers Baseball despite a 54-42 record, Schaumburg is home to the only professional baseball team in Chicago with an above-.500 record in 2013. The Boomers stand alone in first place in the West Division of the Frontier League with a 49-32 record with 15 games remaining in the regular season. In fact, the Boomers have the same number of wins (49) as the Chicago White Sox in 42 fewer games and just five fewer victories than the Chicago Cubs.

“Chicago baseball fans have been waiting a long time to see a team in the postseason, so it’s exciting to look to the top of the standings and see the Boomers there,” said Boomers President/General Manager Andy Viano. “Our fans are committed to seeing a winner and we’ve been committed from day one to building a winner, now all that’s left is for us to end our one-year championship drought and bring a title to Chicagoland!”

In a showdown of division leaders over the weekend, the Boomers swept a three-game set from the Traverse City Beach Bums and in the process, claimed a three-game advantage in the division race. After a six-game road-trip to tackle two potential playoff foes, the Boomers return to action in Schaumburg on August 27 at 6:30 p.m. for Kids Eat Free Tuesday.
