Be HERE When the Boomers Clinch!

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The only professional baseball team with a winning record in Chicagoland, the Schaumburg Boomers, could lock up their first playoff berth and division title in franchise history as early as Wednesday as the second-year club opens a three-game homestand on Tuesday, August 27.

The Boomers (53-34) sit alone atop the overall Frontier League standings with a two-game lead over the Lake Erie Crushers and boast a six-game advantage in the West Division over the Gateway Grizzlies with nine games remaining in the regular season. Schaumburg is coming off a 4-2 road-trip where they claimed series victories over two potential playoff teams including the East-leading Crushers and the Southern Illinois Miners. The Boomers magic number to clinch their first division crown in club history is four, meaning any combination of Boomers wins and Grizzlies losses equaling four would officially give Chicagoland its only taste of playoff baseball in 2013!

When the gates open at 5:30 p.m., every child 12 and under entering the park receives a FREE meal voucher, which is redeemable at concession stands prior to the last out of the second inning. Coming off his best outing of the season at Southern Illinois last Wednesday, RHP Tony Delmonico (0-1, 5.88) takes to the mound for the Boomers against RHP Jonathan Kountis (0-5, 7.60) for the Greys.
