PREVIEW: Game 3 Tuesday Evening in Kentucky

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The series shifts to Kentucky on Tuesday evening at 5:45 p.m. after the Schaumburg Boomers took both home games from the Florence Freedom to go up 2-0 in the first round of the 2013 Frontier League Playoffs, powered by AEP Energy.

After two hard fought wins over the Freedom, Schaumburg needs just one more win to advance to the Championship Series. The Boomers squandered a lead in Game One before Steve McQuail sent the first pitch he saw in the home half of the ninth over the wall in center for a dramatic 8-7 win. GAME ONE FULL RECAP

In Game Two, Schaumburg took a 2-0 series lead on Sunday following a well-deserved 6-2 victory. Alexi Colon's two-run blast in the second gave the home team an early lead before the Freedom battled back to tie the game in the sixth. Boomers scored three in the seventh and the bullpen did the rest to preserve the victory as the series turns to Florence. GAME TWO FULL RECAP

TUESDAY'S MATCHUP - SCH: RHP Seth Webster vs. FF: RHP Michael Oros

Seth Webster has been a revelation since joining the Schaumburg squad on July 7. The rookie right-hander has made 11 starts for Manager Jamie Bennett and the Boomers and gave his team a chance in each one. The 6-foot-5 hurler with a unique delivery boasts a 2.40 ERA in 75 professional inings. The Louisiana College and Nicholls State University product has fanned 52, walked only 13 and allowed just 63 hits in his first season as a professional. Webster leads the Boomers with two complete games including a 3-1 victory over the Rockford RiverHawks on Sunday, August 4th when he did not allow an earned run.

Oros has been just as good for the Freedom in 2013. After a slow start to his pro career last season with the White Sands Pupfish of the Pecos League, the 6-foot-1 righty has been solid both in the pen and the rotation for Florence. The Sam Houston State alum currently holds a 2.16 ERA over 87.1 innings with 80 strikeouts and just 73 hits allowed.
