SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The Schaumburg Boomers defense of their 2013 Frontier League Championship begins in Schaumburg on Friday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. as the champion Boomers take the field against the Florence Freedom in the home opener of their 2014 campaign.

Home to Chicagoland’s only championship baseball team in 2013, the Boomers look to defend their status as both league champions and Organization of the Year with the complete 96-game schedule announced today.

UPDATED 1/14/14: The Boomers boast eight Friday dates in 2014, and you know what that means…FIREWORKS! Make your plans to celebrate Independence Day at the ballpark, as the Boomers host three straight fireworks extravaganzas on July 3 against Joliet, and July 4 and 5 with games against the Normal CornBelters. New in 2014 and thanks to our friends at COUNTRY Financial, we've got Fireworks every Saturday home game! And bringing the total number of fireworks shows in 2014 to 19 are a special Memorial Day Weekend fireworks show on Sunday, May 25 and the annual Fan Appreciation Fireworks on Thursday, September 4.

Once again in 2014, games on Monday through Friday will be scheduled with 6:30 p.m. start times, and Saturday contests set to begin at 6 p.m. Day baseball will return to Schaumburg on Sundays with start times slated for 1 p.m. All game times are subject to change and the Boomers are thrilled to announce a few additional start time exceptions to put on your calendar now.

The wildly successful Day Camp Days are back again as well with two fun-filled dates for campers—Wednesday, June 18 at 11 a.m. and Tuesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. The June 19, 2013 Day Camp Day saw the first-ever sellout in Schaumburg Boomers history, so reserve your space now for what promises to be some of the most jam-packed games of the season. The third annual Boomers Kids Day is set for Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m., as all area schools are invited to send their students to the ballpark for an afternoon of fun in the sun to celebrate another productive school year. 

The Boomers open the season on the same field where the club captured Schaumburg’s first ever baseball title with three games at Lake Erie beginning on May 16. Following a six-game road trip, the Boomers open at home in Schaumburg on Friday, May 23 and will take on the Florence Freedom, who they swept in the 2013 Division Series to reach the Championship Round of the playoffs. Normal, Joliet, Rockford, and the Frontier Greys each make two stops in Schaumburg in 2014, with all other teams in town for one series apiece. The Boomers head to River City, Windy City, and Gateway for six games throughout the season, making one stop in each of the remaining Frontier League cities.

The Boomers 96-game schedule features 51 home games at Boomers Stadium, which is conveniently located right off the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway at Springinsguth Road and just west of I-290.
