Boomers Eighth Fastest Growing Team

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — Not only did the Schaumburg Boomers baseball team win the 2013 Frontier League Championship and Organization of the Year Award, they also won the distinction of being one of the Top 10 Fastest Growing Teams in professional baseball, according to research complied by David Kronheim on www.numbertamer.com.

“It’s incredible to see how far the Schaumburg Boomers have come in such a short period of time and it’s humbling for our entire staff to watch the support for this team grow every day alongside all of our partners in this endeavor, from our loyal fans to our incredible corporate and community partners,” said President/General Manager Andy Viano. “To those who have been with us from before the first ball was thrown – I am forever grateful for the faith you put in us and I hope we’ve done our part to reward that faith.  To those who haven’t been a part of the Boomers baseball family yet – I urge you to come find out what made people flock to see us in record numbers last year!”

Averaging 3,005 fans per game in 2013, the Boomers saw a 17.1% increase in total attendance from 2012 to 2013, and a 19.6% gain in per-game figures. The team drew approximately 500 more fans per night than in the Inaugural Season, highlighted by the first-ever sellout in Schaumburg Boomers history when 7,578 fans watched the Boomers defeat the Frontier Greys on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

The 2013 growth was not limited strictly to the gates. Revenues were up approximately 20% across the board. Corporate partnerships increased, as did revenue from outside events. Boomers Stadium hosted a number of large-scale events in 2013, including the First Annual Larry A. Pogofsky All-Star Softball Challenge, pitting Chicago Cubs legends such as Derrick Lee and Billy Williams against their South Side counterparts in Ozzie Guillen, Frank Thomas, and more.

“I want to send a special thank you to our four founding corporate partners – Kia Motors, Wintrust Financial Corporation, ATI Physical Therapy and Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard, P.C. – without whom none of what you see at Boomers games would be possible,” Viano added. “I hope they, along with each of our dozens of other corporate partners, take as much pride in our recent success as we do because they are unquestionably the engines that drive this franchise.”

The success of the 2013 season reads like a highlight reel: Frontier League Champions. Frontier League Organization of the Year. Manager of the Year. Broadcaster of the Year. Pitch and Hit Club of Chicago Minor League Executive of the Year. But just as impressive are the intangible strides the Boomers franchise made in just two short years.

Inheriting a stadium that sat vacant for 18 months, as well as an understandably cautious customer base, when he purchased the team in September 2011, owner Pat Salvi invested time, millions of dollars in personal resources, and personnel into building a franchise from the ground up. At the team’s Launch Party in October 2011, Manager Jamie Bennett promised Schaumburg, the fans, and the Chicagoland suburbs a “team it could be proud of”—and the Boomers franchise has made that their primary mission, both on and off the field.

With momentum firmly on their side for even more growth and success in 2014 and beyond, the Boomers are positioned to be a cornerstone of the Schaumburg community for years to come. The team projects further growth at the gates in 2014, aiming to establish the Boomers as one of the elite franchises nationwide in minor league baseball.
