RECAP: Boomers Rally To Win in Home Opener

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, rallied to a 7-6 victory over the Florence Freedom in the home opener on Friday night.

Schaumburg trailed 2-0 and 6-3 in the game, rallying each time with big innings. Jordan Dean stroked a two-run single in the bottom of the second to tie the game and an error put the Boomers ahead. Florence plated runs in three straight frames to open a 6-3 lead before a four-run sixth. 

Justin Vasquez recorded a bases loaded triple to tie the game and came across with the winning run on a sacrifice fly from Bobby MartinJames Bierlein earned the win in relief with two scoreless frames. Dexter Price shut the door for his second save. Starter Charle Rosario threw five innings but did not factor in the decision.

The Boomers (3-4) continue the opening weekend series with more fireworks and a replica ring giveaway on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. LHP Danny Jimenez (0-0, 1.59) starts for the Boomers against at TBA starter for Florence.
