RECAP: Boomers Drop Finale at River City

O’FALLON, Mo. — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, dropped a 7-1 decision to the River City Rascals in the series finale on Sunday.
 
Schaumburg did not lead in the contest as River City opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. The Boomers were able to tie the score in the third but did not score again as the Rascals swept the series. River City starter Dane Stone improved to 3-0 on the season by working seven innings.

Schaumburg managed only six hits in the game with two coming from Mark Nelson. Rey Rodriguez and Cal Bowling piggybacked on the hill coming off of three days rest. Rodriguez threw three innings and Bowling a pair. Bowling suffered the loss.
 
The Boomers (6-9) will open a six game homestand on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. against the Frontier Greys. RHP Anthony Smith (0-1, 2.46) starts against RHP Clint Wright (2-1, 3.18).
