RECAP: Boomers Charge Past ThunderBolts

CRESTWOOD, Ill. — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, matched a franchise record for hits in a contest on the way to a 10-3 rout over the Windy City ThunderBolts on Sunday.

Justin Vasquez opened another monster game with a two out RBI single in the first to bring home Jordan Dean with the first run. Schaumburg tacked on six runs in the second to open a 7-0 lead and the rout was on. Vasquez logged a two-run double in the second and fell a triple shy of the cycle, finishing with four RBIs. Every player who appeared in the game reached base with nine players posting hits. Vasquez, Dean, and Sean Mahley registered three hits each as the Boomers won the series to cap a 4-2 roadtrip. Seth Webster tossed six innings on short rest to even his record at 2-2. Webster saw a 17.1 inning scoreless streak end in the fourth, the second longest stretch in team history.

The Boomers (15-12) are back home on Tuesday night to begin a six game homestand with a 6:30 p.m. contest against the River City Rascals on the first Bark in the Park night of the year and a Kids Eat Free Tuesday.
