RECAP: Boomers Blanked by Joliet

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, suffered their second shutout loss of the season, falling 5-0 to the Joliet Slammers in the opener of a series on Tuesday night.

Joliet scored in four different innings against starter Danny Jimenez, posting 12 hits in the game. Jimenez worked 6.1 innings in the loss. Hunter Ackerman and Heith Hatfieldcombined on 2.2 blank innings of relief. Schaumburg was limited to seven hits from seven different individuals. One of the hits came from Michael Valadez, who now owns an eight game streak, tied for the longest of the year. Joliet’s Blair Walters tossed seven blank frames in the win.

Schaumburg continues the homestand on a Half Price Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. RHP Cal Bowling (4-4, 4.21) starts for the Boomers against RHP Greg Billo (0-1, 11.57).
