RECAP: Boomers Fly Past Aviators
LOVES PARK, Ill. — The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, rolled to a 12-2 win over the Rockford Aviators on Friday night.
 
The contest turned in the bottom of the first. Rockford loaded the bases with no outs but failed to score against starter Danny Jimenez, who went on to throw 5.2 innings and earn his fourth victory. The Boomers responded with two runs in the top of the second, loading the bases with no outs. Michael Valadez opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly. Alexi Colon recorded an RBI single moments later to extend the edge. Mark Nelson drove home his first of three on the night with a single in the third as the Boomers plated two more in the third.
 
Schaumburg scored in five different innings and banged out 15 hits. Jordan Dean, Nelson, and Brian McConkey posted three hits each in the win. Jimenez allowed just a single run in the decision.
 
The Boomers (30-23) conclude the first series of the second half on Saturday night. RHP Seth Webster (3-2, 3.20) takes the ball for Schaumburg opposite All-Star RHP Joey Wagman (5-2, 3.26) in the 7:05 p.m. affair.
