The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, suffered a pair of losses to the Florence Freedom in a doubleheader on Wednesday, falling 5-2 and 5-3.

Florence plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim a 5-2 win in the opener. Schaumburg held an early 1-0 in the first. Bobby Martin singled, stole second, moved to third on an error, and crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice from Justin Vasquez. The Freedom were able to tie the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the first against starter Eddie Cody. Joe De Pinto scored following a one out double in the third, giving the Boomers a brief 2-1 edge. Cody suffered the loss, working five innings. De Pinto notched two doubles in the opener.

The Boomers could not hold a pair of leads in the second contest. Gerard Hall handed Schaumburg a 1-0 lead in the first and Jordan Dean singled home a run in the second to make it 2-1.
